How much of the workforce is going virtual, what is the productivity level of virtual workers and to what extent are businesses adopting this practice?
WorkSimple (social goal-tracking software), surveyed senior leaders and hiring managers at Fortune 500 companies and discovered quite a few interesting statistics. The doubts about working from home seem to have vanished, and the remote workforce is on the rise. Some of the more interesting statistics from the survey:
- 76% of CFOs are planning to increase telecommuting and teleconferencing
- 56% of decision makers believe that working remotely makes employees more productive
- 62% of businesses surveyed reported having employees who work remotely either full- or part-time
While this was primarily a survey about beliefs rather than practices or real dollars spent, it does show the growing trend of acceptance of at-home workers and a recognition of the value and productivity that remote workers can provide.
